I am preparing for yet another jaunt to Louisville in a few weeks.  I am presently trying to complete many readings, assignments, and prepare for four different presentations.  With an abundance of reading and research to finish, I will be burning the midnight oil in the next few weeks.

Things Your Lutheran Pastor Loves

Sarcasm can be over used and still be undercutting in love.  Some people are sarcastic because they are joyless and lazy.  Others are sarcastic because it seems to be trendy these days.  But cleverness should never be fooled as Christlikeness.  However some sarcasm can have a witty element of truth.  One is hard pressed to convince me that Elijah wasn’t sarcastic with the prophets of Baal, or Jesus wasn’t witty many times with the self-righteous.  Meet a sarcastic series of videos that at least in my opinion nails it so that it actually edifies which is a pretty gifted feat.  I am convinced these videos have to be done by a pastor because they are true to life.  I have watched many, and I have about five that are my favorite.  But this one is so far my all time favorite.  I don’t know how many times to a lesser degree I have experienced this nonsensical, anti-gospel behavior from some people.  Thank God for this kind of sarcasm.  If we only when we finish laughing, we learn from it.

What I am Reading

Yet another book I am reading is a book by Graeme Goldsworthy entitled.  I praise God for Goldsworthy as he has given Christians and pastors a good framework for a Christ-centered hermeneutic.  Now he gives believers a good manual for Christ centered prayer.

Trueman on Catholics/Evangelicals

Carl Trueman is an intelligent believer who has his finger on the pulse of Catholic and Protestant relations.  The more I read of Trueman, the more I am impressed with his weighty insights.  Recently he posted an article on the exodus of Protestants back to Rome.  Although in the article that follows his, one could argue is Rome entering Protestant churches.
